New York, NY – WEBWIRE

To help employers comply with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standards, the industrial hygiene, infection control, and air quality experts at CTSI offer consulting, training, testing, and monitoring services.

For 2024, Respiratory Protection Week takes place from September 3rd through the 6th. The annual event has been endorsed by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) since 2019. It promotes proper respiratory protection practices for the millions of workers that are required to wear them on the job.

Respiratory protection has always been a key component of personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep individuals safe from airborne hazards. Despite this fact, almost every year, respiratory protection is one of the ten most frequently cited safety and health violations reported by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). For 2023, it was the seventh most frequently cited standard, the third most in 2022, second most in 2021, and it was ranked third in 2020.

“OSHA Respiratory Protection Standards exist for general industry, maritime, and construction,” said Frank Selamie, President of CTSI. “Whenever possible, it’s best to prevent or limit exposure to airborne hazards. However, there are still many circumstances where the use of a respirator is required to prevent serious injury, illness, or even death on the job.”

To help employers comply with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standards, the industrial hygiene, infection control, and air quality experts at CTSI offer consulting, training, testing, and monitoring services. CTSI also provides respiratory mask fit testing, engineering control assessments, employee hazard communications, and compliance and management system audits.

Several years back, CTSI sponsored an educational video about Respiratory Protection Week that can still be seen at: https://youtu.be/S2bve-BXW78
