FedEx Employees Clean Up Singapore’s Reservoir and Riverside Park as Part of 40th Anniversary Celebrations

Singapore – WEBWIRE

Federal Express Corporation, one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, collaborated with local non-profit Waterways Watch Society to clean up Singapore’s Marina Reservoir and surrounding areas to celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary and commemorate World Ocean Day. A total of 46 FedEx team members and their families collected 69 kg of litter in Kallang Riverside Park.

“This clean-up activity is part of our commitment to environmental protection and giving back to the communities where we live and serve,” said Eric Tan, managing director of FedEx Express Singapore. “It was heartwarming to see the enthusiasm from our volunteers to keep Singapore’s water supply clean and create a cleaner habitat for local wildlife.”

Every day, litter on land is washed into Singapore’s drains and canals by rain and wind, which ends up in the country’s reservoirs. Clean reservoirs are crucial for self-sufficiency of Singapore’s water supply and are considered one of the Four “National Taps” anchoring the country’s water-supply strategy. Keeping these waterways and reservoirs clean is vital for both the environment and the health of the population.

Last month, FedEx Singapore received the Distinction Award for the fourth consecutive year at the AmCham CARES Recognition Ceremony. This award honors FedEx for its outstanding contribution to creating positive economic and social opportunities for Singaporean communities. Additionally, in April, more than 60 FedEx volunteers planted 80 trees to celebrate World Arbor Day.

This initiative is part of the FedEx Cares global community engagement program. To learn more about FedEx Cares initiatives across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa, please visit the website for more information.
