BRF Volunteers Hold Senses and Flavors Workshop in Serafina Corrêa

Volunteers from the BRF unit in Serafina Corrêa (RS) held the first Senses and Flavors workshop, an initiative of the BRF Institute, on October 1st. The activity took place at the Leonora Marchioro Bellenzier Municipal Elementary School and benefited more than 30 participants.

“Sentidos e Sabores is a platform that promotes volunteering in the communities where BRF operates. Based on materials developed by the Institute, volunteers partner with local institutions and professionals to promote food-related activities as a tool for social transformation. Community gardens can be created, awareness-raising workshops to reduce waste, for example, ”says Bárbara Azevedo, coordinator of Social Investment at the BRF Institute.

During the action, the volunteers made a dynamic chat with guidance from a nutritionist to sensitize students about the importance of a balanced and diverse diet. The activity continued with the visit to the community garden, the focus of this year’s project in Serafina Corrêa.

“It was great to spend time with the community. During the activities, we were able to share experiences and talk about how together we can maintain the garden and make it sustainable for the benefit of the entire community, ”says Djenifer Ruppenthal, the unit’s action leader in Serafina Corrêa.

The Senses and Flavors is promoted by the BRF Institute in partnership with social and educational entities in the municipalities. The actions deal with various themes and are adapted to each locality, seeking to promote local development. Volunteers are trained to, together with local institution professionals, run workshops and monitor the development of activities throughout the year.
