Florida-based Author Joseph Dougherty Released an Exhilarating Story of His Life

His book also describes how adventurous and heart-stopping childhood days were, too. One day while on their way for fishing, Joe and Harold walked a path where rattlesnakes abounded. Joe told his friend that they make enough noise so that the snakes would hear them and get out of the way. He also warned his buddy not to step over a log since the snakes like to sleep underneath it.
 
When they reached the riverbank, Harold’s dog named Brown jumped into the water to cool off. Joe cautioned his friend again to get his dog out of the water. He said that dogs and alligators are mortal enemies and the dog always loses in a fight, as the alligators thrived in the river.

About the Author
 
Joseph J. Dougherty was born in Detroit in 1939. When Joe was seven years old, his mother, along with him and his brother, ran away to Florida from her abusive husband. Joe was an active member in the drama during high school and received the Best Actor Award from the University of Florida. He then ventured into scuba diving to discover Florida’s underwater caves and offshore reefs and proceeded to Cuba later on with a couple of his friends in diving. For two years Joe had attended college before he landed a career in the automotive industry. He left that job after some time and started an imported auto parts business. Along his journey he met and married Madalyn, sold his auto parts business, and worked as an Account Executive at Southern Bell Telephone Company for thirteen years. Joe became instrumental in opening the largest fireplace store and showroom in 63 counties for 30 years. He is now 81 years and retired in Ormond Beach, Florida.
