“A Christian guide on gratitude basks in positive reviews”.

The book “Saying Thanks and Beyond” (Archway, 2017) is born out of the experiences and reflections of the author, Ralph Mosgrove, and his late wife who had suffered a bad fall, which rendered her disabled. As they moved forward following the tragedy, the couple experienced kindness and compassion from strangers they met along the way. This inspired the author to write a book that revolves around the topic of gratitude.

“Saying Thanks and Beyond” expands the Christian concept of gratitude. Hoping to inspire a spirit of thanksgiving, the author encourages his readers to go beyond when expressing gratitude or saying ‘thank you’ as a way to make a difference in other people’s lives. He not only explains the several reasons for saying ‘thank you’ but also shares the many ways to thank people, one of which is through body language.

The book has received positive reviews from independent book review publications. In her review for IndieReader, Lianna Albrizio gave “Saying Thanks and Beyond” three stars.

“Author Ralph Mosgrove reinforces the potency of simplicity in everyday words and the foundation of good vibes…” said Albrizio. “In his treasure of a book, Mosgrove will have readers rethinking their manners and what it means to be kind.”

“He creatively trickles sentiments of faith into his text, adding an extra element of strength and appeal to his work,” said Jennifer Padgett of Tulsa Book Review, giving 3.5 stars out of 5. “His overall message is positive and one well worth taking to heart.”

“This book acts as a devotional or daily self-help manual,” wrote Johnna Rocker-Clinton for the San Francisco Book Review. “I recommend it to anyone who is doing inner-work and attempting to show more gratitude. This little gem would be helpful to Christians and non-Christian alike.”

Beth Adams of the Pacific Book Review called the book “a refreshing reminder that kindness matters and genuine goodness still exists in this world.” She added:

The story is well done, filled with acts of unexpected generosity and grace that have stayed with the recipients throughout their lives. In today’s society where we equate connection with ever-increasing technology, it was nice to find a simple true story that illustrates what really matters. If you’re feeling tired, jaded or cynical, pick up this book. It’s truly a welcome respite.

Michael Radon of The US Review of Books also left behind a positive review for “Saying Thanks and Beyond.” “The book itself is brief, easy to read, and does a good job of balancing the author’s history and his own experiences as examples of the concepts he introduces.

“Approachable and quickly digested, this book contains the kind of information that stays with the reader long after reading it and will likely influence one’s behavior in a positive, non-intrusive way.”

“An excellent read for anyone,” wrote Rachel Dehning for the Manhattan Book Review. “With inspirational stories, quotes, and space for personal reflection, Ralph excels at letting us know that it might not always be enough to just say ‘thank you,’ but to respond with another kind deed.”
