PPG to showcase PPG DURANAR coatings on innovative, award-winning buildings at A’19

PPG (NYSE: PPG) today announced that it will highlight the application of PPG DURANAR™ coatings on several innovative and award-winning buildings at A’19, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Conference on Architecture 2019 in Las Vegas, June 6-8.

PPG’s flagship line of PPG Duranar polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) coatings are featured on The Grove at Grand Bay in Miami. Designed by the renowned Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), the project’s two twisting, 20-story condominium towers are engineered with hurricane-resistant window walls, glass, doors and metal framing systems finished with PPG Duranar coatings.

Visitors to the PPG booth also will find details about The House at Cornell Tech in New York City. As the tallest passive house structure in the world, this energy-efficient, 26-story dormitory tower is one of the first buildings to be finished with PPG Duranar MXL coatings. PPG custom-formulates these coatings for each project to incorporate many of the same proprietary, best-in-class mica/metallic effects that its automotive coatings business produces for high-end commercial vehicles.

Other prominent projects include PIER 17 at South Street Seaport in New York City, which is finished with PPG Duranar powder coating to protect the building against its challenging salt-laden marine environment. The Emma and Georgina Bloomberg Center on Roosevelt Island, also in New York City, incorporates a perforated rainscreen painted with color-shifting PPG Duranar VARI-COOL™ coatings.

PPG also will exhibit high-performance PPG CORAFLON® powder coatings and provide information about the technical, color and consulting services available for these products. Based on proprietary PPG fluoroethylene vinyl ether (FEVE) fluoropolymer resins, PPG Coraflon coatings include mica-inflected PPG Coraflon SUNSTORM™ powder coatings for curtain walls, storefronts and other monumental applications.
