Healthy Indoor Environments are a Crucial Component for Success at Schools and Universities in Puerto Rico

Most K-12 schools and universities across Puerto Rico opened their doors for the new school year last month. The return to classrooms is an exciting and rewarding time for students, teachers and faculty so long as they can focus their efforts on teaching and learning and not dealing with indoor environmental quality (IEQ) challenges.
IEQ is a key component for a healthy learning environment. Just last year, the Healthy Buildings Team at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health released a report addressing these concerns. Their findings, Schools for Health: Foundations for Student Success, was recently promoted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Indoor Environments Division to increase awareness of this critical topic as schools reopened.
