Potential employers can set themselves apart from the competition by remaining relevant and offering key perks such as a flexible work environment, generous paid-time-off and demonstrating to candidates how they can make a significant impact. There are real winners and losers in technology recruiting and those who understand and leverage this data are far more likely to be successful in attracting and retaining top talent.

eHire, a technology recruiting, staffing and management consulting firm, today announced the results of the 2018 Technology Workforce Pulse Survey measuring satisfaction with current employment as well as assessing the factors that are most important when evaluating a new position.

Three-thousand technologists from the Atlanta area were surveyed for the study with an alarming three out of four stating that they are either actively pursuing a new opportunity or open to considering a new one. This, combined with low unemployment rates, creates a very competitive market for employers trying to retain and attract top talent.

“As trusted advisors to our clients and candidates, we keep a finger on the pulse of the workforce,” said Kyle Tothill, eHire’s managing director and co-founder. “It is critical for us to know the market and advise our clients on what is important to today’s workforce. In addition to talking to hundreds of candidates each day, we took it a step further to match our observations with the actionable data we gathered. We are now able to arm our clients with the information they need to refine their offerings and secure the best talent.”

The survey evaluated the workforce by asking questions regarding commitment to current position, attributes most important when considering a new position and willingness to commute.

Study highlights include:

  • Only 25 percent of respondents are completely engaged and happy in current position.

  • Those with 16 to 20 years of experience are the least happy with current role. 86 percent are either actively looking or open to considering a new position.

  • Forty-three percent of the workforce states that the number one perk they can receive is the ability to work from home.

  • Those with more than 15 years of experience are nearly three times more likely to insist on working from home.

  • Thirty-six percent of participants ranked “the ability to make an impact” as the number one job attribute when considering a new position.

  • Compensation is the number one job attribute for 33 percent of the workforce.

“With unemployment at an eighteen year low and the evolving demands of the workforce,” continued Tothill, “companies must understand these findings to best shape their employment offerings to recruit and retain top talent. Potential employers can set themselves apart from the competition by remaining relevant and offering key perks such as a flexible work environment, generous paid-time-off and demonstrating to candidates how they can make a significant impact. There are real winners and losers in technology recruiting and those who understand and leverage this data are far more likely to be successful in attracting and retaining top talent.”
