Worthington Steel Earns Recognition as a John Deere “Partner-level Supplier”

Columbus, Ohio, - - Worthington Steel, a Worthington Industries company (NYSE:WOR) announced today that the company has earned recognition as a Partner-level supplier for 2012 in the John Deere Achieving Excellence Program. The Partner-level status is Deere & Company’s highest supplier rating. This marks the fifth time the Columbus, Ohio-based company has been selected for this honor in recognition of its dedication to providing outstanding quality and its commitment to continuous improvement.

Worthington Steel is a supplier of hot-rolled and cold-rolled cut-to-length steel sheets to John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, Ill., and John Deere Ottumwa Works in Ottumwa, Iowa, for the fabrication and assembly of combine harvesters and hay and forage equipment. Suppliers who participate in the Achieving Excellence program are evaluated annually in several key performance categories, including quality, cost management, delivery, technical support and wavelength, which is a measure of responsiveness. John Deere Supply Management created the program in 1991 to provide a supplier evaluation and feedback process that promotes continuous improvement.
