Charlotte Fox, President of Genesis Poets Music, Inc. said, “This year our show is a “DC” Community effort. We are working with DC SCORES and The American Poetry Museum. The DC community will enjoy poets who are “home grown” some are “Def Poets” from the HBO show, while others are artist from the “U” Street Art Scene. This Art Scene is home to some of Washington’s hottest artists and is known as “Black Broadway” from the days of Langston Hughes and Duke Ellington: Genesis Poets Music, Inc. is a local Independent Record Label, born out of the “art” experience on “U” Street.

The feature Poets this year will be DC’s own POEM-CEES. Since 1998, POEM-CEES have combined rhyme, prose and community activism to emerge at the cutting edge of the vibrant Washington, DC Arts Movement.
