Air Liquide Japan partners the OECD Tohoku School event in Paris

WEBWIRE

OECD Tohoku School is an educational project launched in 2012 to foster the region’s recovery, hosted by Fukushima University in cooperation with Japan’s MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), and the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development). Tohoku is the northeastern portion of Honshu, the largest island in Japan, which was strongly affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.

Since 2012, a variety of initiatives have been undertaken through this international program, by about 100 students from junior and senior high schools in three heavily damaged prefectures, Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate.

Air Liquide Japan supported the “Grand Finale” of this two-year-and-half-long program. This event, named “The Rebirth of Tohoku”, was held on August 30-31, 2014 at Champ-de-Mars in Paris, France to promote the attractiveness and recovery of Tohoku to the world. Under the main theme, “Japan Rising Towards the Future”, entertainment and presentations were planned including big balloons floating at the foot of Eiffel Tower as a symbol of recovery and to show how high the Tsunami elevated.
