Laudis booth at RFID Journal-AAFA Summit to showcase solution for item-level tagging at the source of manufacture

August 11, 2006 - NEW YORK – NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) and Laudis Systems LLC will demonstrate a radio frequency identification (RFID) solution for item-level tagging at the source of manufacture during the upcoming RFID Journal and American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) Summit.

Global technology leader NCR delivers end-to-end RFID solutions that help businesses solve real business problems. Laudis is a turnkey provider of RFID software solutions for tracking and locating assets.

The RFID Journal and AAFA Summit, held at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York Aug. 15-16, is the first event of its kind designed to address RFID-related opportunities and issues in the apparel and footwear industry.

Laudis and NCR will demonstrate their collaborative end-to-end RFID solution that allows manufacturers to tag apparel at the source, enabling retailers to verify the location or the receipt of garments anywhere within the supply chain. The demonstration (Laudis AAFA Summit booth #3) will feature the Laudis apparel applications and item-level tracking solutions for clothing and footwear. NCR will provide hardware, such as hang tags, flap tags and RFID-reader technology. NCR is also providing Laudis with consulting services and installation support for its end-to-end clothing solution.

“In the apparel industry, accuracy and efficiency across the supply chain, from manufacturer to distributor to retailer, are absolutely critical for business success,” said John Greaves, vice president of NCR’s RFID Global Group. “We are pleased to team with Laudis to demonstrate how these efficiencies can be delivered through end-to-end RFID solutions for the apparel industry.”

The apparel application from Laudis is currently being piloted at Shenzhen, China-based Sungod Cashmere Knitwear Company, one of China’s largest cashmere manufacturers.

“Our four-month retail study found that investment in RFID can bring significant and rapid payback to both manufacturers and retailers,” said Sungod President James Yang. “The range of functional and business expertise at Laudis enabled us to clarify our thinking and set out a future strategy for source tagging with all of our products.”

“We are excited about the opportunity to demonstrate to AAFA attendees how our apparel application, together with technology and expertise provided by NCR, can deliver a readily implemented solution that lowers the cost of conducting business,” said Frank Ritota, chief executive officer of Laudis. “The supply chain and sales channels in the apparel industry are very complex. Bringing added efficiency to inventory and tracking procedures can have a tremendous positive effect on the bottom line.”
