Datasolid Customers Benefit from Immediate Access to the Industry’s Standard 3D Variational Constraint Solver from UGS

Wednesday, August 9, 2006, PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, and DataSolid of Mönchengladbach, Germany, today announced the D-Cubed 3D Dimensional Constraint Manager (3D DCM) component software from UGS is now available in the latest version of DataSolid’s CADdy++™ Professional mechanical CAD system.

The 3D DCM, part of UGS’ D-Cubed family of industry leading component software products, significantly enhances the integrated assembly modeling and motion simulation functionality in CADdy++ Professional. By integrating UGS’ component software, Datasolid is enabling its customers to efficiently position parts in an assembly and then parametrically investigate alternative configurations. Where constraints are used to represent kinematic linkages, the motion of a mechanism can now be interactively investigated. In addition, the 3D DCM’s wide ranging geometry and constraint support coupled with its proven, high performance solving, further enhance user productivity.

“The high quality of UGS software and their support services enabled us to evaluate, integrate and release the 3D DCM in just one release cycle,” said Heinz-Willi Brendgens, managing director of DataSolid GmbH. “The wealth of positive feedback from our customers has proven once again that UGS’ component software solutions enable us to rapidly deliver powerful and practical capabilities for the benefit of our end-users.”

With applications in assembly modeling, motion simulation, direct part modeling and 3D sketching, the 3D DCM boosts the productivity of many major CAD systems worldwide. “DataSolid customers are among the many hundreds of thousands of designers and engineers that benefit from choosing a 3D DCM-enabled CAD system,” said Bruce Feldt, vice president of Open Tools for UGS. “This latest integration further reinforces the 3D DCM’s status as the world’s leading 3D geometric constraint solver.”
