To celebrate its 30th year in business, Epson Taiwan Technology & Trading Ltd. planned and participated in a series of community events to express its appreciation to its loyal Taiwanese customers.

Loving Taiwan, a month at a time

This year, from March through October, employees and members of their families engaged in monthly volunteer programs around Taiwan. A total of nearly 1,000 volunteers participated in a wide range of events. Some planted trees and helped in a coastal cleanup. Others provided support for disabled or economically disadvantaged children. Still others joined in a program to bring movies to schools in remote areas or to help restore ecosystems by eliminating invasive alien plant species.

Collaboration with “Mr. Eyeball”

Enlisting the cooperation of the versatile and popular Taiwanese artist and musician “Mr. Eyeball,” Epson Taiwan produced a total of 30 limited-edition inkjet printers to commemorate its 30th anniversary and sold them at a charity auction. The company also donated one New Taiwan Dollar for every ink cartridge sold. Total donations thus far exceed NT$1,200,000. The money is earmarked primarily for programs designed to educate children with disabilities and support their efforts at independence.

Employee musical
To close out the 30-year anniversary events, Epson Taiwan employees planned, wrote and, on November 2nd, performed a musical to express their appreciation to the people of Taiwan. Played out against a background of vast social change, the musical depicts the friendship that has developed over the past three decades between Taiwan and Japan as the people from both nations have helped one another recover from devastating natural disasters. The performance featured a number of Japanese songs popular in Taiwan, as well as a chorus made up of students from an elementary school in central Taiwan and students from the Japanese school in Taipei. Many of the 1,500 customers in the audience were moved to tears by the music and the story, which was based on actual events.

Epson Taiwan remains committed to growing together with the people of Taiwan while maintaining it sense of gratitude to them.
