Romaine Lettuce Recalled Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

California-based True Leaf Farms is expanding its recall of romaine lettuce due to concerns that it has been tainted by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. The recall now includes approximately 2,500 cartons distributed in 21 states throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The recalled lettuce has a sell-by date of September 29. So far, no illnesses have been reported.
Despite the contamination by the same type of bacteria, Listeria monocytogenes, the lettuce recall is unrelated to the tainted cantaloupes that recently killed 13 people and sickened 72.
