Lectrus South Dakota Operation Certified to CSA Welding Standard W47.1

Lectrus Corporation in Tea, South Dakota was recently certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) for CSA Standard W47.1, “Certification of Companies for Fusion Welding of Steel”. The Division 2 certification scope includes structural bases, enclosures, handrail, stairs, and platforms for the Canadian market. Lectrus Project Manager Tim Wakefield stated, “Our team spent many hours preparing for the test and certification process. Each of their efforts has allowed Lectrus to be successful in gaining the CWB Certification.”

CSA Standard W47.1 provides the requirements for certification of companies engaged in the fusion welding of steel and the qualification of their personnel and welding procedures. The certification stipulates the requirements for welding engineers, welding supervisors, tack welders, welders, welding operators, and associated documentation. The qualification requirements are intended to demonstrate an individual’s basic welding skills and provide a means of verifying the individual’s continuing ability in the fusion welding of steel. From its South Dakota Operation, Lectrus employs over 20 welders and serves a wide variety of customers and markets in Midwestern US and Canada.
