United Technologies Corp. Named Outstanding Strategic Partner by University of Connecticut School of Business
HARTFORD, Conn. – United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) has been honored by the University of Connecticut School of Business for the company’s long-standing commitment to higher education.
On Friday, April 29, United Technologies received UConn’s Outstanding Strategic Partner Award during a Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Celebration at the university’s Storrs campus. Christopher Calio, Pratt & Whitney Vice President and Counsel, Commercial Engines and Global Services, and a UConn alumnus, accepted the award. Calio received both a master’s degree in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor degree from UConn.
The Outstanding Strategic Partner Award recognizes Connecticut-based businesses that support the state through education and research.
UConn and United Technologies share a passion for education. In 1996, UTC established the Employee Scholar Program to give its employees the opportunity to further their education and make learning a lifelong process. So far, more than 300 United Technologies employees have earned degrees from the UConn School of Business.
Through the Employee Scholar Program, UTC employees have earned more than 30,000 degrees worldwide. To date, United Technologies has spent more than $950 million in connection with the Employee Scholar Program.
