WEBWIRE

Palo Alto, Calif. — April 27, 2006 — Following a recent analysis of the U.S. digital x-ray market, Frost & Sullivan has selected FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA, Inc. as the recipient of the 2006 Market Leadership Award in computed radiography. Fuji has held a long-standing position as the premier digital x-ray manufacturer and continues to demonstrate excellence in all areas of the market.

“As the original developer of storage phosphor technology over 20 years ago, Fuji has established cassette-based CR systems as the dominant digital x-ray acquisition modality in hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, outpatient clinics, and private-practice groups,” says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Subha B. Basu. “Their continued innovation and ability to address the changing market dynamics have contributed to their success.”

Fuji’s product line includes both single-driver systems (Carbon XL and Carbon X) and multiple-driver systems (XG-5000 and Clearview-CS), which provide industry-leading technology and image analysis applications. The XG-5000 system boasts image preview times of less than 20 seconds at plate-processing speeds of an astounding 165 images per hour. The ClearView-CS produces the same speed and additionally offers Fuji’s patented dual-side reading technology and 50-micron resolution for premium imaging applications such as mammography* and pediatrics.

The company has also innovated in the DR domain with extraordinarily fast upright and table DR systems. These units, referred to as the Velocity product line, provide image previews beginning in as fast as 2 seconds, making it superior to competitive flat panel systems.

“Fuji is at the forefront of the digital wave, with extensive product portfolios in digital solutions that can accommodate a host of end-users,” explains Basu. “With over one-third of the total market share in revenues, Fuji attained the top spot in 2005.”

Frost & Sullivan is proud to present the 2006 Market Leadership Award in computed radiography to FUJIFILM Medical Systems for their continued innovation and market dominance in cassette-based CR systems.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to a company that has exhibited market share leadership through the implementation of market strategy. The recipient has displayed excellence in all areas of the market leadership process, including the identification of market challenges, drivers and restraints, as well as strategy development and methods of addressing these market dynamics.
