Boston, MA – February 11, 2010 – The characters on the hit TV show Glee aren’t the only ones who have texted someone while on a date with someone else – one out of three MocoSpace users recently admitted the same. When asked if they have flirted with someone else using their phone while on a date, 33% said yes. The question was part of a Valentine’s Day Love Survey that MocoSpace completed on February 4, gathering nearly 20,000 responses. The results confirmed the idea that MocoSpace is fulfilling its mission of providing the best place for people to meet and have fun on their mobile phones– especially those in the 17-34 age demographic that makes up the majority of MocoSpace users.

As the largest mobile social network in the US, with over 10 million registered members generating 3 billion pages per month, MocoSpace has unique insights into the social habits of an increasingly mobile generation. The Love Survey asked users a number of questions about the impact their mobile phones are having on their love lives. Among the findings:

• 90% said a user’s “About Me” information is most important after pictures in making the decision to take the first step toward connecting with someone on MocoSpace.
• When asked if they had ever used their mobile to break up with someone, 57% said yes, with 48% of those using a text message to end the relationship
• 79% said the recession had had no effect on their dating habits
• 60% did not have a date yet for Valentine’s Day, and 80% of those do not consider it a priority to find one

Justin Siegel, co-founder and CEO of MocoSpace believes in the power the site has to connect its community, saying, "People would be amazed how many great friendships and relationships start on MocoSpace every day. Connecting with friends new and old on mobile phones is not only here to stay, it’s just starting to explode..Our growth, which was already substantial last year, has accelerated much faster than forecasted.” A recent study by Ground Truth named MocoSpace as the 4th largest mobile web site in the U.S.
