Singapore Magic Duo Awarded “Most Original Illusionists 2009” Merlin Awards

Singapore - In Jun 2009, local celebrity magic duo, J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’, put Singapore on the world map by setting an official new world record for “most number of grand illusions performed in 5 minutes” by presenting 15 illusions within the stipulated time period.

This month, the illusionists have been recognized by the international magic community for their achievements in magic by being awarded Merlin Awards for “Most Original Illusionists 2009”.

The Merlin Award is the most prestigious award in magic from the International Magicians Society, the largest magic organization in the world.

J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ Ning are the first Singapore illusionists ever to be awarded a Merlin Award and will each receive an award for ‘Most Original Illusionist 2009” and “Most Original Female Illusionist 2009” respectively.

Unlike a competition award that one wins by performing better than a specific group of magicians on a particular day, the coveted Merlin Award is only presented to magicians who excel in their field based on a proven track record over a period of time.

The Merlin Award recognizes J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ Ning’s contributions to magic through their distinctive cutting edge style, world-class performances, original illusions and high profile mega events that have sparked international mainstream and media interest.

Past Merlin Award winners include David Copperfield, Criss Angel, Siegfried & Roy and Penn & Teller.

The awards will be presented to J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ Ning in person by Mr Tony Hassini, World President Chairman/ CEO of the International Magicians Society in an exclusive show cum awards presentation in early-Oct 2009.
