Doctor Says Weight Loss Not About Diet And Exercise

Baltimore, MD -- May 12, 2009

“Weight loss is NOT just about diet and exercise,” says Fat Is Not Your Fault creator, Dr. Bryan Walsh.

“One of the major misconceptions about weight loss is that people can get the body of their dreams simply by going on a diet and exercise program. This simply isn’t true,” says Walsh.

“Something is not working,” says Walsh. “Rates of obesity are skyrocketing, statistics on diet and exercise programs are abysmal, and people just simply aren’t losing weight using these methods. Rather than try another diet and exercise program, people should be looking for answers as to why these programs aren’t working.”

He points out that while diet and exercise are necessary for fat loss, they are only one small part of the weight loss picture.

“If weight loss were simply about following a diet and exercise program, there wouldn’t be new books published on the subject every week,” Walsh emphasizes.

Dr. Walsh refers to physiology as having a major influence on our ability to lose weight and that simply following a diet and exercise program often does not fix physiology gone awry.

“If your hormones are out of balance, you won’t lose weight. If your neurotransmitters are out of balance – the chemical messengers in your brain that influence mood, food cravings and motivation – you will have a hard time sticking to a program. If you have food sensitivities in your gut that cause inflammation, you will have a very hard time losing weight.”

One of the things Dr. Walsh finds most bothersome is the guilt and frustration people have when they are not successful losing weight.

“People are beating themselves up mentally and emotionally when they can’t lose weight,” says Walsh. “If you sit on the couch eating bonbons all day and wonder why you’re overweight, that’s your responsibility. But when people give a diet and exercise program their best effort and don’t see any results, more times than not it has more to do with their physiology.”

Dr. Walsh calls his program Fat Is Not Your Fault for the millions of men and women who have tried weight loss program in the past but did not achieve success, at no fault of their own, but rather because their body was not allowing them to lose weight.

His multimedia program was put together for people interested in learning more about the underlying causes that are stopping people from losing weight. He offers a manual, assessment form, audio guide and over two and a half hours of video, in hopes that his information will help educate people on the tools they need to achieve weight loss success.
