WEBWIRE

Forum One Networks’ annual Online Community Unconference is the biggest online community focused event that features a low-cost, high-value day of learning, collaborating on social media and community strategies and incredible networking opportunities.

San Francisco, CA – May 8, 2009 – Forum One Networks, a strategy and research group specializing in online communities, announces attendance projections for their Online Communities Unconference, which takes place in Mountain View, California on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. The event is an open space meeting for online community practitioners, managers, developers, business people, tool providers and investors to discuss experiences and strategies in the development and growth of online communities and social media.

“We’re anticipating over 300 online community and social media professionals to attend the Online Community Unconference this year, making it the biggest online community focused event on the west coast,” says Bill Johnston, chief community officer for Forum One Networks. “Online community is at an important intersection. While many companies struggle in the economic downturn, the interest and support in online community and social media initiatives has never been higher. There is so much energy and confusion around community and social media in this economic downturn, we feel like this is a really well timed event. My intention is to make this the online community love fest for 2009.”

The Online Community Unconference offers online community and social media professionals with a very low-cost opportunity to get support and new ideas from other smart people who are working in the field and understand the landscape, network, find jobs and to recruit for open positions. While the topics are determined on the day of the event by participants, some likely topics include: twitter for business, social media strategies, social media ecosystems, community growth strategies, community metrics and ROI, community business models and monetization and emerging technologies.

An attendee from last year’s Online Community Unconference shares what he liked best about the event, “[I] loved the open format and ability roam from topic to topic. I met so many great people at this event and interaction was much better than most conferences.” Forum One Networks’ annual event offers a unique gathering of diverse industry experts working in online community and social media. With attendees from leading companies including; Cisco, Google, Intel, Autodesk, Yahoo!, Intuit, NetApp, Scottrade, Gigya, Symantec, Walmart.com, Social Edge, Lockheed Martin, Scottrade, Diddit, LinkedIn and many more, the unconference is sure to deliver many thought provoking breakout sessions and have unmatched networking opportunities.

There are several sponsorship slots still available that offer highly interactive opportunities to reach decision makers. Ala carte offerings start at $1,000. If interested, please contact Bill Johnston @ bjohnston@forumone.com.
