Warner TV Branded Service Launches in the Netherlands via Ziggo B.V.’s New Video-on-Demand Services


BURBANK, Calif. and UTRECHT, Netherlands – Dutch cable operator Ziggo B.V. and Warner Bros. Entertainment have launched the Warner TV subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) branded service in the Netherlands. In addition, consumers will have the option to rent feature films on the same day as their DVD release through On-Demand, part of Ziggo’s Interactive TV service. The announcement was made today by Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television, and Marcel Nijhoff, CCO, Ziggo B.V.

Warner TV features around-the-clock, on-demand access to drama, comedy and sci-fi television series, as well as blockbuster movies distributed by the Studio. Under the terms of the deal with Ziggo, Warner TV will offer 150 motion pictures, 600 television series episodes and 100 hours of animation each year to viewers in the Netherlands. The Warner TV programming will include hit television shows such as Friends and ER, as well as theatrical motion pictures like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Ocean’s Eleven, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, The Shining and All the President’s Men, among others.

Warner Bros. Entertainment leads the industry through its strategy to offer consumers the choice to purchase or rent a physical DVD or download movies through Ziggo’s On-Demand service on the same day, including blockbuster titles like RocknRolla, Yes Man and the award-winning The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, as well as a wide range of catalogue and direct-to-video titles covering all genres, from the Studio’s huge library of movies. A range of Warner Bros. movies in HD will be added to the offer later in the year.

This deal marks Warner Bros. Entertainment’s first launch of the Warner TV branded service in the Netherlands and continues the company’s strategic expansion into advertiser-supported (AVOD) and SVOD branded channels around the globe. Warner TV has previously been launched with Top Up TV, Tiscali , Virgin Media and BT Vision in the U.K.; FASTWEB in Italy; Maxdome in Germany; On Demand Deutschland in Austria; USEN Corporation’s GyaO in Japan; and Free in France
