Health Insurance Broker Predicts Passage of National Health Insurance Bill

Health insurance is still on the table despite two wars, an economic meltdown, and the current panic of the swine flu. One of the nation’s top Health Insurance Brokers, Morgan Moran of www.HealthInsuranceBrokerOnline.com said “Obama will most likely get some sort of national health insurance plan passed this year now that the Democrats have enough votes in the Senate to avoid a filibuster”.

The health insurance broker said “It might seem a bad time for the President to renovate America’s health-care system.” He is, after all, trying to prevent the collapse of the world’s banking system, tackling the recession, the swine flu, and fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the President is determined to try, and chances that he will have something to boast about by year’s end.

Ranking Members of the Senate Finance Committee, met behind closed doors for much of Wednesday to discuss how the country would pay for Obama’s health insurance plan. The health insurance broker said “the committee will decide between a public insurance option - or financing a health care expansion.”

The Committee’s Chairman, Max Baucus (D), and Senator Charles Grassley, the committee’s ranking Republican, released the first set of issues under consideration. Step one is: improving the quality of healthcare and bringing down healthcare costs.

The health insurance broker said the new plans “include changing the way doctors are paid by Medicare”. Incentives are planned which reward doctors for quality care instead of quantity of care.

Also under consideration is how the country can provide bonuses for primary care doctors and general surgeons, who are in short supply. The proposals also call for making a commitment to something called ‘effectiveness research’ -- discovering through scientific research which health treatments work best for which patients.

Moran said “Offering taxpayer-subsidized insurance is very expensive”, but next to shoring up the banks, health care now seems to be do-able.

He said “We used to think health reform would cost a lot, but in light of all the recent bailouts and stimulus packages, it doesn’t seem so big anymore"
