Customer Testimonials for Semiconductor IP Added to

Candid User Comments to Provide Valuable Information on Design and Verification IP

SAN JOSE, Calif., In a move aimed at helping IC design teams find the best available IP for their projects, today announced that it has invited its user community and IP partners to begin adding customer testimonials to its online IP catalog. Members of the community can now read about other design teams’ experiences with specific IP and offer up their own testimonials as well.

The site will be moderated, and will validate the identity of the party offering the testimonial to verify its authenticity. The IP ecosystem was recognized Feb. 3 with a DesignVision Award by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC).

“This new capability plays to the strength of as an established knowledge base of IP by adding valuable feedback from real-world IP chip architects and designers,” said John Blyler, editor of Chip Design magazine and consulting editor for the System-Level Design portal. “ already provides standards-based evaluation metrics for IP from the major suppliers and foundries. The new customer testimonials feature adds a Web 2.0 element of user inputs that will further build the site as the place to evaluate and select peer reviewed IP.”

“Selecting IP is among the most important decisions a design team makes—often the critical difference between success and costly failure,” said Sean O’Kane, marketing director for “Members of the community are looking for as much information as possible to ensure they’re selecting the best IP for their projects, and we believe this will go a long way in helping them.”

“Seeing whether another customer vouched for a particular IP product will definitely help my team when it comes time to choosing IP to integrate into our design,” said Camille Kokozaki, director of Design Automation Services at IDT. “Using the ChipEstimate portal to communicate the value of specific IP is a great idea as it puts the core information and the user comments in a single location on the web.”

“This new feature allows IP providers to showcase the value they deliver to SoC designers as they develop electronic products for an increasingly broad range of markets,” said Brani Buric, Virage Logic’s executive vice president of marketing and sales. “There is nothing more powerful than a customer testimonial to demonstrate the real value we provide to our customers.”

The chip planning portal is an ecosystem comprised of over 200 of the world’s largest IP suppliers and foundries. These companies all share in the common vision of helping the worldwide electronics design community achieve greater profitability and success. To date, a diverse global audience of over 20,000 users has joined the community and has collectively performed over 80,000 chip estimations. is a property of Cadence® Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), the leader in global electronic design innovation.
