Change is in the air for 2009...a new year, a new President, and renewed hope for accomplishing the impossible in tough economic times. What active role will you take? The Gift Therapist, Jennifer Melnick Carota wants to know.
In effort to spread the “Give More” movement, Ms. Carota has launched the “$1 Dollar Challenge for Change” in hopes to inspire others to make a difference in their own communities with a mere dollar in their pocket. How would you do it? Who would you help? How could you stretch a buck to serve the many?
Combining her expertise as a nonprofit executive and reformed shopaholic, Jennifer Melnick Carota understands that even large scale change can happen on a shoestring budget. “It doesn’t take a large bank account to make positive changes in your community, but rather a commitment to do the best with what you’ve got. One dollar and a great idea has the potential to transform lives...I have witnessed miracles happen on much less.” Less than one year ago, Carota and friends started a clothing ministry that has helped over 25 women return to the workforce. “We had a budget of zero! I believe our passion and perseverance attracted all of the resources necessary to make our project successful.” And thus, the One Dollar Challenge for Change was born.
