Print Art Goes Light Speed

Egg Harbor Twp., N.J. (May 28, 2008) – Print Art Inc., a major commercial printer based in Egg Harbor Twp., N.J., has upgraded to a fiber optic network, allowing information to be transmitted 768 times faster than a T-1 line.

The fiber optic cables connect the company’s Avanti Graphic Arts Management Software System to the Pre-Press department’s Apple workstations, Fuji Plate Setter, Rampage Rip software and Epson proofer. The fiber optic upgrade also improves the transfer of information directly to the company’s Heidelberg presses while providing faster data transfer to and from their clients.

“We’re constantly searching for the latest technology so that we can improve our performance,” said Carl Blase, CEO, Print Art, Inc. “The switch to fiber optics will allow us to work faster and more efficiently.”

Fiber optics employs strands of optically pure glass that are as thin as a single strand of hair. Fiber optic cables are used to carry digital information over long distances. Print Art, Inc. manages the fiber optic network traffic with Dell fileservers and Cisco gigabit switches.
