Central Pet to Celebrate Grand Opening June 7

Amado, Arizona, May 1, 2008 – Central Pet, Santa Cruz County’s first full-service pet resort dedicated exclusively to dogs and cats, has planned a fun-filled Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, June 7, from 10 to 3. Pets and their owners are welcome for tours, free puppy potty training class, snake avoidance training, pet adoptions by Santa Cruz Humane Society, shot clinic, animal balloons for the kids, refreshments, giveaways and a free raffle drawing.

Located at 2875 East Frontage Road in Amado, Central Pet’s new, temperature-controlled, 9,600-square-foot facility offers boarding, grooming and training along with innovative attractions. In the boarding area, cats can people watch from a catwalk above a well-stocked retail area, enjoy tantalizing views of bird feeders in trees, and test their superior intelligence with flat-screen fish tanks. Dogs can alternately swim, play on the lawn, watch movies on stuffed couches, listen to piped-in music, or just hang out on their private porches. Central Pet also offers convenient pet pick-up and delivery, and Zoom and Groom, a pet day care and grooming service. The resort is staffed 24 hours a day by ABKA-certified personnel.

“Having lived in Green Valley and Tubac for nine years, I know there is a real need for the services we offer,” said Central Pet’s founder and co-owner Julie Grounds. “We’re proud to offer pet owners from Nogales to Green Valley an excellent care alternative for pets, close to home.”

Due to Central Pet’s location near exit 42 off I-19 in Amado, General Manager Seth Jones says he won’t be surprised if Central Pet also attracts business from day-tripping Tucsonans. Tourists can drop off their four-legged friends on their way to shop, dine or explore the historic area, and pick them up, fully groomed, on their way home.

Grounds, who learned the business while working at a Texas pet resort, dreamed about opening her own pet resort since she was a child. She spent eight years as Vice President of Operations for Dorn Homes in Green Valley before teaming up with Lorin Jacobson to make her dream come true. Grounds designed the resort. Jacobson Custom Homes handled construction.

Central Pet is now accepting reservations for its anticipated opening. For more information, call Seth Jones or Julie Grounds at 520-398-8661
