Dublin, Ireland . - Shenick Network Systems, provider of per flow IP communication test and monitoring systems, announced that its award-winning diversifEye™, has been the primary test system used by the European Advanced Network Test Centre (EANTC) in a large scale test of next generation deep packet inspection (DPI) based traffic and service management systems. With Shenick’s diversifEye, EANTC verified the ability of DPI systems to identify, track and control each IP traffic connection on a per flow basis for peer-to-peer (P2P) applications.

EANTC’s project involved creating a series of sophisticated real world functional and high performance traffic management tests which included regular IP oriented services traffic such as high speed data and P2P applications. The objective of the test was to test the functionality of P2P filters and determine if IP oriented service providers who deploy DPI systems can confidently offer secured and prioritized bandwidth utilization, leading to improved customer quality of experience (QoE). Shenick provided the load generation and analysis allowing vendors to test each IP flow in a real-world environment.

Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director of EANTC said, “Our ultimate objective in this DPI test was to determine whether disruptive applications such as P2P would effect the quality of end user experience. Utilizing Shenick’s per flow test environment, enabled us to emulate the most realistic scenarios possible with multiple P2P traffic types and to test each and every end users’ level of service quality.”

Robert Winters, CMO for Shenick said, “The proliferation of P2P traffic is placing heavy demands on network service providers to guarantee QoE, thus creating pressure for DPI device manufacturers to optimize performance and have a greater degree of control over network traffic flows. Shenick’s diversifEye provides the only test system to emulate and guarantee the ability of DPI devices to offer this level of granular flow control.”

Shenick is the only test system in the market that can both emulate and analyze each and every application flow. This approach delivers a much greater degree of confidence that every customer can experience the highest quality service or controlled traffic scenario. The results of the testing determined that vendors are still in an early phase of product deployment and did not perfectly detect performance across the whole range of P2P protocols supplied by Shenick.

Shenick’s diversifEye is a completely integrated, high performance test system that provides both network operators and communications equipment manufacturers with the ability to create and test the most realistic converged IP application usage scenarios. diversifEye testing covers quality of service, individual subscriber experience on a per-flow basis, functional verification, high load and key performance limitations.
