Dallas Police Deploys Ordia Solutions’ Blue Force Tracking System at St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Ordia Solutions’ Mobile Tactical Collaboration System™ (MTCS) integrated with AdvanTraq™ GPS delivered enhanced security and safety to 100,000 revelers
Dallas, TX, and Vienna, VA, March 24, 2008 – Ordia Solutions, the leading provider of mission-critical tactical collaborative command and control systems for public safety practitioners and first responders announces the successful deployment of its next generation Blue Force Tracking system by the Dallas Police Department (DPD) in support of the 29th Annual Greenville Avenue St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday March 15 2008.
In the post 9/11 world, concerns over homeland security at heavily attended events are becoming as important as concerns over mundane traffic, crowd, and beverage control. As the lead agency for the Parade, DPD assembled a multidisciplinary multi-jurisdictional taskforce comprising DPD personnel, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement Agents, Dallas Fire-Rescue EMTs, among others. Members of the command staff “redrew” their operational plans from paper maps to interactive MTCS workspaces and assigned AdvanTraq™ GPS units to various Sergeants and Medic teams. The GPS-integrated MTCS workspaces were used to communicate, collaborate, coordinate, command and control with members of the distributed taskforce in real-time.
“The great weather conditions brought a record number of Dallas residents and visitors to this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade”, said Deputy Chief Vincent Golbeck, Central Patrol Division, Dallas Police Department. " MTCS provided a force-multiplier effect that enabled our Special Events command staff to gain topsight and real-time situational awareness over our dismounted officers. The AdvanTraq GPS” he continued, “played a critical officer safety role as it enabled officers and commanders to know precisely where units were deployed dynamically, while providing officers an SOS alert capability if needed.”
“DPD is the latest public safety agency that had a ready-out-of-the-box experience with MTCS and AdvanTraq GPS during a heavily attended special event spanning a large geographical area.”, said Joe E Ordia, Chairman and CEO, Ordia Solutions. “As a multi-purpose Blue Force Tracking-type tool, the MTCS platform is being used by public safety agencies that need an enhanced tactical collaboration tool to better safeguard citizens and first responders, and increasingly by private sector entities to strengthen operational efficiency and security across geographically-dispersed venues.”
