Atrua Made-For-Mobile Fingerprint Solution Enables First-Of-Its-Kind Mobile Commerce Trial In U.S.

Fingerprint Phones Improve Usability and Security for Successful Cellular South Biometric Mobile Commerce Application

Campbell, CA, October 22, 2007 – Atrua Technologies, Inc., the industry’s leading provider of Intelligent Touch Controls™ for mobile handsets today announced that it provided the fingerprint recognition solution on the Kyocera handsets used for the successful mobile payments trial conducted by Cellular South, the nation’s largest privately held wireless provider.

This trial, the first in the US to use fingerprints to access payment cards, launched in May 2007 to users in Tennessee and Mississippi with the aim of driving awareness and adoption of m-commerce combined with innovative fingerprint touch control features that add both time-saving convenience and security to m-commerce applications.

As was highlighted in a September 6th (Cellular South) company statement* the trial was an overwhelming success with 87 percent of WirelessWallet testers interested in using the mobile payment technology when it became available to Cellular South customers. More than 75 percent of testers were satisfied with their WirelessWallet transactions, and the vast majority of participants said it was easy and convenient to use, as well as being an innovative method for making everyday payments and purchases.

2007 has seen an explosion in fingerprint adoption on mobile phones, with Atrua at the forefront. Already this year, 26 new fingerprint phone models have been revealed worldwide – 22 of which use Atrua’s fingerprint touch control, greater than an 80% share in this category.

Atrua’s fingerprint solution differentiates through its made-for-mobile approach, delivering the most reliable and secure solution for the unique and challenging requirements of mobile phones. Atrua’s complete solution of sensor and software utilizes minutia fingerprint templates, which provide interoperability, are compatible with open standards, and have been endorsed for their accuracy and interoperability by mobile network operators, governments, and enterprises. Frequently cited reasons that mobile phone makers prefer Atrua’s solution include its standards-based approach, smaller sensor size (40 percent smaller than the closest competitor), lower power consumption, minimal solution cost, and superior integration and support services.

Atrua will be demonstrating the benefits of its fingerprint solutions for mobile commerce during a presentation at the Smartphone Summit Conference being held in conjunction with CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment 2007 in San Francisco on October 22, 2007.
