Boeing and Sukhoi Announce Expanded Agreement

WEBWIRE

The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] and Sukhoi today signed an agreement to expand collaboration between the two companies. As a result of extended negotiations, Boeing will expand its advisory role on the Sukhoi regional jet program, known as the Superjet 100 (SSJ).

In 2002, before the Russian government designated Sukhoi as the leader of Russia’s regional jet program, Sukhoi selected Boeing to serve as an advisor to Sukhoi and its program partners in the areas of program management, engineering, marketing, product development, certification, supplier management, and customer support.

Under the terms of today’s agreement, Boeing will explore opportunities to assist Sukhoi in areas including, but not limited to:

Flight and maintenance crew training
Spare parts management and supply
Guidance on production of flight and maintenance manuals that meet international standards
“This is an excellent example of Boeing’s long-term commitment to cooperation with Russian industry,” said Scott Carson, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “Our work with Sukhoi on the Superjet 100 is a great opportunity to expand our ’working together’ relationship. ”

“Boeing’s expanded support to the Sukhoi Superjet program and especially the increased Boeing role in helping Sukhoi to create a world-class SSJ after-delivery support system will significantly increase business attractiveness of the SSJ airplanes to our domestic and foreign airline customers,” said Mikhail Pogosyan, general director of the Sukhoi Company.
