Seamless global connectivity realizes productivity gains, enhanced customer services and cost savings

08/30/05, TAIPEI, Taiwan -- AT&T today announced it has implemented a global network for Inventec Corp. by leveraging AT&T’s Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) solution.

Inventec, a global provider of smart handheld and Internet appliances, selected AT&T to provide a tailored communications network that integrates the operations of its employees, customers and trading partners across China, Japan, the United Kingdom and United States.

The AT&T solution enables Inventec to dramatically reduce the amount of operational resources required to support its global private network, allowing the company to dedicate more time and resources to core business activities. The AT&T IP VPN is based on Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), which supports any-to-any connectivity.

“By tailoring the IP VPN service to suit the intricate needs of Inventec’s daily operations, AT&T has not only made it possible for us to connect our international offices, it has also helped us to streamline our internal production processes,” commented Richard Shen, Manager of Global Network Services, Inventec Corp. “We are now able to respond faster and more accurately to customer demands, which realizes significant cost-savings. The manageability of the service has also enabled us to increase the effectiveness of our management practices.”

AT&T customized its solution to fit the specific needs of Inventec’s organizational structure. The solution was designed to facilitate flexible, reliable and secure connections that support multiple applications simultaneously.

Shen added that the solution’s ability to prioritize delay sensitive traffic is a key benefit of the solution because it ensures that the business critical data is transferred as quickly as possible.

“AT&T was extremely flexible and took great care to tailor the service to our business needs. For example, AT&T’s local support team worked seamlessly with its global operation centres, through which we can enjoy AT&T’s direct and timely support services at any time.”

“Inventec understands the value that MPLS-based IP VPN can bring, not only by achieving productivity gains and cost savings, but also by providing a competitive edge,” said Sainti Li, General Manager of AT&T Greater China.” An integrated communications network that serves customers and partners as well as the company’s international offices provides a trusted and secure environment through which close business relationships can be forged and maintained.”

AT&T’s global MPLS-based VPN services offer customers a secure, scalable, high-performing global network with remote and dedicated access options. Another significant feature is assigned bandwidth for data applications by classes of service and market-leading service level agreements. AT&T is delivering the MPLS services through more than 1,500 service nodes worldwide. This allows businesses to incorporate mission-critical applications into their existing network and connect remote or mobile employees, customers and partners in almost any location around the globe.
