WEBWIRE

CUPERTINO, Calif.– Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that Symantec Enterprise Vault has been positioned as the only Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for E-mail Active-Archiving, 2007*. Symantec Enterprise Vault e-mail and content archiving software enables organizations to reduce storage costs, protect critical records, improve employee productivity and achieve compliance with industry and government regulations requiring the retention and supervision of e-mails, instant messages and other forms of electronic communications and collaboration. Symantec Enterprise Vault is a key component in Symantec’s Information Foundation product suite, a single solution for managing information risk.

According to the Gartner report, published May 16, 2007, “Leaders have the highest combined measures of an ability to execute and a completeness of vision. They offer the most-comprehensive and most-scalable products, and have a proven track record of financial performance and established market presence. In terms of vision, they are perceived as thought leaders, with well-articulated plans for ease-of-use, scalability and product breadth.

For vendors to have long-term success, they must plan to address the expanded market requirements for archive management, personal store migration, ease of use and deployment, and archive recovery. Leaders must not only deliver to current market requirements, which continue to change, but they need to anticipate and begin to deliver on future requirements. A cornerstone for Leaders is the ability to articulate how these requirements will be addressed as part of their vision for expanded archive management. As a group, leaders can be expected to be considered as part of most new purchase proposals and have high success rates in winning new business.”

“Symantec Enterprise Vault is the market-leading content archiving solution, managing more than 8 million mailboxes for nearly 5,000 customers worldwide to help them reduce IT and legal costs, as well as information risk,” said Francis deSouza, vice president of the Information Foundation Group, Symantec. “Symantec Enterprise Vault is an important part of our Information Foundation product suite, designed to enable IT professionals to proactively prevent the risk of data loss and policy violations, while rapidly and cost-effectively responding to electronic discovery (e-Discovery) requests.”
