SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Dogster Inc., the fun-loving, pet-loving architects behind the Dogster.com and Catster.com online communities, has announced that its number of pet-loving members has exceeded 400,000 -- continuing the sites’ runs as the fastest growing pet-focused online destinations. In the month of April alone, the sites gained a record 45,000 members. Realizing its commitment to the animal community, Dogster Inc. also announced that it has implemented the world’s first RSS feeds dedicated to the pet food recall -- designed to keep the community informed of the latest developments in the Menu Foods ordeal and to serve as a resource for future recalls and related news. The Pet Food Recall Alerts RSS feed focuses on breaking news on the pet food recalls and The Pet Food Recall News RSS feed will provide information and commentary on the pet food recall that is less time-sensitive in nature.

Users can subscribe to one or both RSS Feeds from Dogster’s Pet Food Recall Resource Page, www.dogster.com/pet_food_recall. Here, they will also be able to view Dogster’s DogBlog written by intrepid blogger Joy Ward, and find links to other organizations, including government-related agencies, that have pertinent information or are taking action related to the pet food recall.

“Clearly, the pet food recall has been, and continues to be, an issue of great concern for us and the pet-loving community,” said Founder and CEO Ted Rheingold.
In addition to the pet food recall reaction and the surge in membership, Dogster Inc. has also achieved a few other major milestones:

-- More than 2 million dog and cat photos have been uploaded
-- 15 million distinct friend-to-friend connections have been made
-- More than 9,100 member-established, member-driven Dogster and Catster
Groups have been created
-- Growing at a rate of one new registrant every 2 minutes

“We are delighted by Dogster’s rapid growth and how our community has made this a true online home for every dog and cat lover,” said Rheingold. “We’re continuing to enhance this expanding community by adding site features and reacting to pet-related news and events with useful and timely tools to empower every cat and dog lover.”
