BioPassword Expands Operations Into Europe, Introduces Enterprise Edition 3.1 With Improved Support For Citrix Environments

BioPassword, Inc., the leader in software-only strong authentication, today announced the expansion of its operations into Europe and is introducing Enterprise Edition 3.1 with improved support for Citrix environments. The new office will help BioPassword to deliver its award-winning multi-factor authentication solutions globally. BioPassword authenticates users by analyzing a combination of the userID and password, their keystroke biometrics (their unique typing rhythm), and knowledge-based authentication (user selected questions and answers) and conveniently integrates with existing Windows Active Directory and Citrix environments without requiring additional hardware.

In response to today’s proliferation of threats and more sophisticated attacks to global networks and applications, BioPassword’s expansion will increase availability of its unique solution that combats fraud, stolen information assets and identity theft problems associated with using traditional password security, such as internal security breaches, unauthorized remote access, social engineering, password-cracking programs, and employee password sharing.

BioPassword has recruited security industry professional, Pierre Blom, to lead its European operations with headquarters in Reigate, England. Blom joins the company from Sun Microsystems Sweden where he spent two and a half years as channel manager. Prior to this he spent three and a half years at WatchGuard Technologies, Inc. as Nordic director and vice president of sales in Northern and Southern Europe.

“Europe is seeing the same explosion in data breaches and phishing attacks as the U.S. and we expect 35 percent of our global revenue to come from Europe and growth to be five-fold year-on-year,” said Pierre Blom, regional vice president of EMEA sales at BioPassword. “Security is changing and passwords alone have had their day. Keystroke authentication is simple, scalable and needs no change in user behavior. It is no longer a luxury item; it is mandated by responsible corporate management and costs up to a third of other biometric solutions.”

BioPassword is also unveiling its Enterprise Edition 3.1, with major enhancements including security alerts, advanced reporting and support for Citrix Presentation Server 4.5, among others. Enterprise Edition 3.1 is optimized for Windows Active Directory and Citrix environments, and adds an additional knowledge-based authentication (KBA) factor, which allows companies to increase security without the worry of denying access to legitimate users.

“Additional integration with Citrix Access Gateway and Password Manager and Windows Active Directory in Enterprise Edition further strengthens BioPassword’s value as a software-only multi-factor authentication solution,” said Jared Pfost, vice president of security and product strategy at BioPassword. “As enterprise computing and security demands evolve, BioPassword will continue to innovate and offer strong authentication software solutions for broadly protecting enterprise user authentication scenarios.”

“Security professionals know that it is no longer practical or prudent to rely solely on the user ID and password method to authenticate users. Highly visible and successful attacks on corporations -- including phishing, pharming, keystroke logging, spyware, as well as simple brute-force password cracks -- continue to put sensitive and valuable information at risk and attract unwanted global attention,” concluded Blom.
