Ottawa, April 24, 2007 - The Society of Graphic Designers (GDC) will welcome Marie-Josée Lacroix, the City of Montréal Design Commissioner, at the opening reception of their Annual General Meeting in Montreal April 26 2007. “This is a very special opportunity for designers from across the country to connect with designers in Montreal and to recognize World Graphics Day on April 27,” said GDC National President Dean McNeill. “It is especially fitting to do this in Montreal, a city with a positive and progressive policy regarding design, that recognizes the importance of design to the economic health and vibrancy of their city.”

The reception will be hosted by the Société des Designers Graphiques de Québec (SDGQ) at the office of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda). The meeting will takes place April 27-28 at the Delta Montréal Hotel and includes representatives from Chapters across Canada, including the new Arctic Chapter, and special guests from the University and College Designers Association (UCDA), SDGQ and Icograda.
