LAS VEGAS, January 9, 2007 - NETGEAR®, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that it has been selected by the editors at CNET (www.cnet.com) as a finalist in the Home Video category of this year’s “Best of CES” awards for its Digital Entertainer HD (EVA8000). The Digital Entertainer HD is a sophisticated set-top digital media receiver that brings the universe of digital content to television sets enabling consumers to easily enjoy any content, in any room, at any time. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m. live on the CNET Stage in the South Hall upper lobby, second floor.

The Digital Entertainer HD automatically discovers HD movies, TV shows, music files, and personal photos on a home network, across multiple PCs, and organizes these into a single media library displayed on a TV without the need for media server software running on the computer. With the included Windows PC software, the Digital Entertainer HD enables users to listen to music from iTunes, view YouTube videos and access their PC desktop from their living room. When the PC has an optional TV tuner installed, consumers can schedule recordings and pause or rewind live broadcasts using the Digital Entertainer HD without the need for an additional DVR device.

The Digital Entertainer HD includes an on-screen TV wizard and PC installation software for simple setup. Using the included remote, consumers can search their entire media library by multiple criteria including title, actor, date, genre or thumbnail images (from photos, album art or DVD covers). A High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port displays video resolution up to 1080p on big-screen TVs and optical digital audio output (TOSLINK) transmits full digital surround sound to the consumers’ digital audio receiver.

“We’re truly excited that CNET has chosen our new Digital Entertainer HD as one of the best new products at CES,” stated Vivek Pathela, NETGEAR’s vice president of product marketing. “For more than a decade, NETGEAR has driven the adoption of networking hardware and network-attached devices into the home and business environments, with a diverse offering of innovative products that deliver best-in-class performance, reliability and affordability. The Digital Entertainer HD continues that innovative spirit by delivering a critical combination of features, functionality, value, and ease-of-use that will revolutionize the home entertainment category.”

The Best of CES Awards, which are produced and judged by CNET, recognize the hottest products at 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show in ten categories, plus a Best of Show.

As a finalist for a Best of CES Award, the NETGEAR Digital Entertainer HD is also eligible to win a People’s Voice Award. People at home actively following CNET’s in-depth CES 2007 coverage – from videos to editorial reports from the show floor – can participate by voting for their favorite product at http://bestofces.cnet.com. Voting is open to the public from Monday, January 8th and closes at noon Pacific Time on Wednesday, January 10th.

Finalists were chosen from hundreds of submissions and judged on their promise to pioneer a new category, establish an emerging category, or take an existing category to a new level; excite consumers with its style, innovation, usefulness, ease of use, and/or capacity to entertain; endow its owner with a certain cachet – the “cool” factor; work readily with other products in a consumer’s life; and make its way into everyday life.

The ten categories include car tech; cell phones, smart phones, and PDAs; computers and hardware; digital cameras and camcorders; gaming; home audio; home video; MP3 and portable video; TVs; and emerging technologies.
