CA Delivers Comprehensive Recovery Management With Integrated Backup, Business Continuity And Disaster Recovery Software
BrightStor ARCserve Backup/WANSyncHA Bundle Helps Ensure Continuous Availability of Critical Business Information
ISLANDIA, N.Y., December 6, 2006 – CA (NYSE: CA) today introduced a new recovery management solution that helps customers ensure protection, recoverability and uninterrupted access to critical business information by combining continuous data protection (CDP), business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities into one easy-to-manage package.
The BrightStor ARCserve Backup/WANSyncHA Bundle integrates the XOsoft WANSync high availability and XOsoft Assured Recovery disaster recovery testing solutions recently acquired by CA with CA’s popular BrightStor ARCserve Backup. It enables a full range of recovery management best practices—including rapid backup to all forms of storage media, replication of data to remote servers, and testing of the recoverability of key business applications and data.
“CA’s comprehensive recovery management solution offers a strong value proposition to our customers,” said Thomas Horne, vice president and COO for CIS, a New York City-based solutions and services provider specializing in business continuity. “Its unique breadth and integration is ideal for IT managers seeking to simplify the protection and recoverability of mission-critical applications.”
Many companies have been reluctant to adopt CDP because it only addresses part of their overall recovery management requirements. By integrating CDP with multiple data protection, business continuity and disaster recovery technologies, the new CA bundle helps customers ensure availability and timely recovery of email, database and other business applications across diverse storage infrastructures.
According to Gartner, “CDP will play a role as part of the overall recovery methodology and, just as tiered storage exists for capacity, a hierarchy of recovery that includes traditional backup to tape, backup to disk, CDP, snapshot and replication will emerge.” *
The BrightStor ARCserve Backup/WANSyncHA Bundle is available globally through CA partners.
“Our customers want to integrate CDP into their IT operations to mitigate risk and expedite recovery,” said Todd Pekats, director, strategic alliances at CompuCom, a leading managed service provider. “CA’s new bundle enables us to offer a solution that meets this growing demand.”
“Enterprise-class data protection can quickly become too expensive and too complex to manage if you’re using too many different ’point’ solutions to fulfill all the requirements of best practices and regulatory mandates,” said Frank Jablonski, director of product marketing for storage management at CA. “By integrating key recovery management technologies, CA is offering customers the ability to meet their information and application availability challenges while minimizing complexity and cost.”
