Friday - November 24, 2006 - Leverkusen – Bayer Industry Services (BIS) is presenting its comprehensive range of fire technology services at “Railway Interiors Expo 2006” (Cologne Exhibition Center, November 28-30, 2006, Hall 10.2, Stand D53). BIS employees are experts in the inspection of materials and components and quickly and reliably deliver all the parameters and classifications required to use rail-bound vehicles, cars and buses. In addition, BIS Fire Technology is involved in the development of new test and evaluation methods around the world and works closely with scientific institutions. Complete fire protection concepts are available for the manufacturers, operators and fitters of rail-bound vehicles.

At “Railway Interiors Expo 2006”, the company is showcasing its strengths as a customer-focussed competence center that is ideally equipped to carry out material and component tests. After all, the Fire Technology sector of BIS boasts a broad portfolio of certifications that cover all the relevant national and international testing procedures. More than 100 standardized test methods are used in the company’s laboratories and Technical Service Center. BIS can also conduct realistic simulations of fire experiments and special investigations for which there are no standardized procedures. An 800 m³ hall is available for this purpose.

BIS Fire Technology is a test center accredited by the German Federal Railways Authority for railway-typical testing of materials and components for rail-bound vehicles within the scope of DIN 5510. For European rail traffic, which also incorporates tests in accordance with the draft version of CEN/TS 45545, Fire Technology is recognized by Eisenbahn CERT. The portfolio of test methods also includes tests for the Asian and U.S. markets.

A joint venture between Bayer AG and Lanxess AG, Bayer Industry Services (BIS) is the operator of the Bayer Chemical Park network with sites in Leverkusen, Dormagen and Krefeld-Uerdingen. In addition to Bayer AG’s three operational subgroups and Lanxess AG, more than 60 manufacturing and service companies enjoy the benefits of being located in Germany’s largest chemical park network.
