SoCal Hip Hop + SF Bay Area Funk = "SWEATY WALLZ 2" - A Hip Hop, Funk and Soul Music Party in San Francisco’s Mission District on Saturday, November 18th
(San Francisco, California - Friday, November 3, 2006) - Funk band Feroshus Sizzle and Hip Hop group Substance Abuse announced today that they will be co-headlining “SWEATY WALLZ 2” - a party featuring live, original hip hop, funk and soul music plus drinks, food and crazy fun -- on Saturday, November 18th, 2006 in San Francisco
If you missed the first “SWEATY WALLZ” on August 12th, here’s your second chance to get up close and personal to HIP HOP and FUNK - the passionate power sources of the street.
The party will take place at Balazo 18 Gallery, located at 2183 Mission Street (at 18th Street), in San Francisco’s storied Mission District. Doors will open at 9:00 pm and the show will start at 10:30 pm. It’s only $9 at the door and it’s an 18 and over event.
Co-headlining the event will be two original, fresh and talented acts - Los Angeles’s SUBSTANCE ABUSE and San Francisco’s FEROSHUS SIZZLE.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE, the SoCal hip hop duo of Eso Tre and Subz, is overflowing with headyfly lyrics and soulful beats. Their latest CD “Overproof,” which features a who’s who of legendary guest shots (including MF Doom, Kool Keith, and Saafir), has been getting rave reviews. In the past few months, Substance Abuse has been tearing it up at shows from LA to San Francisco and back again. Check out Substance Abuse’s MySpace page (www.myspace.com/SubstanceAbuse) to hear what the buzz is all about.
FEROSHUS SIZZLE are San Francisco-based purveyors of enthusiastically thumpin’ and relentlessly raw original funk and soul music. The quintet has played at many of the Bay Area’s premier venues, including the Elbo Room, Boom Boom Room, Shattuck Down Low and the DNA Lounge. In March 2006, Feroshus Sizzle released their self-titled “demo” CD (available now on iTunes) and began receiving fan mail from all over the country and as far away as the UK, Japan, and Thailand. The FSizzlers are currently recording their first studio album, due out in early 2007. Experience the music on their website (www.FSizzle.com) or their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/FeroshusSizzle)
It isn’t deep at all to point out that Funk and Hip Hop have fed off of and inspired each other; But sometimes the world still fails to see the casserole of complexities in color; Part of being a diverse musical society is being proud of the differences; truth in tolerance is dealing with dissimilarity. On Saturday, November 18th, Substance Abuse is gonna stay true by rockin two mics and two turntables; Feroshus Sizzle is gonna stay true with live instrumentation and three-part, gospel-inspired vocal harmonies. Regardless, these two acts are not two cliques, you smell?
When asked to comment, Substance Abuse’s Eso Tre had this to say: “Few areas have as eclectic and exciting a music scene as the Bay, and we are honored to be performing with one the dopest funk bands out there, Feroshus Sizzle.”
The “SWEATY WALLZ” party is becoming a Yay Area fixture. Come on out and get your fix of funk, soul, hip hop and more every couple of months. Stay tuned for “SWEATY WALLZ 3” in early 2007.
