Epson Seeks to Expand Sales of Inkjet Technology and Increase Business Alliances
- TOKYO, Japan, September 25, 2006 - Seiko Epson Corp. (ďEpsonĒ) has announced that it will expand the commercial and industrial applications for its Micro PiezoTM inkjet technology. Epsonís unique Micro Piezo technology is best known for the benefits it provides in Epsonís award winning Epson Stylus Photo and Epson Stylus Pro range of inkjet printers. However, Epson has also developed a network of commercial and industrial partners in areas that include photo lab printing, digital printing, and textile printing. All of its partners have used Micro Piezo technology to develop a range of products that meet specific market needs. As a result of this success, Epson is now broadening the opportunities to other partners who wish to benefit from further joint development of Micro Piezo technology. As inkjet systems are being introduced more widely in commercial and industrial applications, much value is being placed on the potential of Epsonís Micro Piezo technology, which consists of the core inkjet system components Ė the inkjet print head and the ink itself. Micro Piezo technology is an ink firing system for inkjet printers. It is an original Epson technology whereby an electric signal is sent to the piezo elements placed above each nozzle on the print head, and ink droplets are fired according to the force generated by the change in shape of these elements. It allows precise control of the piezo elements, which in turn means precise control of ink droplet size and fantastic print quality.
This technology makes it possible to control not only Epsonís proprietary water-based pigment ink with superior water and light resistance, but also a wide variety of substances in miniscule quantities, and fire them with high precision.
Epson is currently providing its inkjet technology to the following partner companies for product development purposes.
