Momentum Continues as More Progressive Utilities Recognize the Superior Value of MWH Soft Infrastructure Modeling Solutions

Broomfield, Colorado USA, September 20, 2006 - MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today announced that the City of Mesa Utilities Department, Arizona, has chosen MWH Soft’s H2OMAP Sewer Suite software to replace its existing modeling solution. The Department cited the software’s ease of use, brevity of learning curve, powerful geospatial functionality, graphical presentation and design capabilities, quality technical support, and price/performance as key reasons for the decision. The selection is the latest reflection of MWH Soft’s leadership position in geospatial hydraulic infrastructure management in the North American market.

The City of Mesa Utilities Department provides water and wastewater services to more than 410,000 people within a 125-square-mile area. Water is delivered to customers through more than 2,000 miles of water main, and wastewater is collected via more than 1,400 miles of sewer lines. Surface water is treated at two water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 258 million gallons per day. Wastewater is treated at two water reclamation plants where it is recharged, reused, or discharged. A third wastewater treatment facility is under construction. The majority of the reclaimed water is used on golf courses, for crop irrigation, and/or recharged into the ground. A minimal amount is discharged to natural waterways. H2OMAP Sewer Suite will serve as the foundation for developing a comprehensive GIS-based solution for managing the City’s wastewater collection system.

“We were looking for a comprehensive, easy-to-use sewer modeling and design solution - one that combined the powerful features of GIS with advanced analysis and reporting capabilities and complemented our existing water distribution management solution,” said Susan Miller, Assistant Water Division Director for the City of Mesa. “The H2OMAP Sewer Suite intuitive interface demystified the complex modeling process, making us feel confident about mastering the technology, getting up to speed right away, and working more efficiently. The software’s ease of learning and use, close integration with our GIS and water modeling solution, comprehensive functionality, price/performance advantage, widespread acceptance and use throughout the industry, and outstanding technical support made it the clear choice for our city. The fact that the software does not require a hardware lock was a plus. The outstanding reputation of MWH Soft in the industry also had an impact on our decision.”

Developed and supported by industry experts, H2OMAP Sewer is used worldwide by municipal engineers and planners to create detailed, accurate models of sewer infrastructure systems. These models enable users to evaluate the effect of new developments, zoning changes, and other additional loads on system flows; pinpoint current and future problem areas; predict overflows and backups; and determine how best to restore capacity lost to infiltration and inflow with the least rehabilitation. Users also rely on these models to compute hydrogen sulfide generation and corrosion potential; analyze the rate of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) exertion; track sediment movement and deposition; calculate the amount of pollutants transported to the wastewater treatment plant; and assess pollutants’ impacts on receiving waters. The application also provides vital tools for meeting and exceeding environmental regulations and improving community relations.

“H2OMAP Sewer continues to receive very high praise from leading utilities and engineering consultants worldwide,” said J. Erick Heath, PE, Vice President of Sales and Client Relations at MWH Soft. “New users see an immediate and dramatic improvement in the detail and complexity of their enterprise GIS-based modeling projects. Those tangible advances are the key reasons for our system’s unprecedented adoption and satisfaction rates.”

“Progressive companies all over the world continue to recognize the benefits of high-performance geospatial modeling,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft. “Our comprehensive infrastructure analysis and design solutions offer the most effective approach to maximizing the value of an enterprise’s geospatial and modeling data. Those improvements quickly lead to faster and more informed decision making and enhanced operations. We’re proud that a city with such advanced GIS and engineering departments - and such an accomplished track record - has invested in MWH Soft software, and we’re excited to participate in the city’s success.”
