Irvine BMW is Happy to Confirm, the LAPD Will Receive 100 BMW i3s

June 9, 2016- Irvine BMW is happy to confirm, the City of Los Angeles is about to start seeing quite a different style of police car.  On Wednesday, BMW of North America announced that it will supply the LAPD with 100 BMW i3 electric vehicles.  After a field test on the streets of LA, BMW won the bid for supplying the force with electric vehicles against other EV competitors.  It certainly didn’t hurt that the BMW i3 was EPA rated best-in-class efficiency and reliability.
 
The i3s will be used as the LAPD’s non-emergency fleet vehicles, which means that these fuel-efficient little Bimmers won’t be used to chase bad guys any time soon.  They will, however, serve the department as transportation vehicles for officers and community outreach initiatives.  LA’s Mayor Eric Garcetti stated, “We should be thinking green in everything we do… and these new EVs show how local government can lead.”
