“Brian’s engineering leadership, systems experience and passion for innovation will be a huge benefit to our clients as they look to compete in the increasingly digital world,” said Phaff. “Manufacturers are quickly evolving their product and service offerings and will require forward-thinkers like Brian to help them understand how to leverage the next generation of technology.”
Prior to Polaris, Van Batavia spent seven years at Eaton Corporation first as a Lead Engineer of Embedded Controls and most recently as an Engineering Specialist, Systems and Architecture where he led systems-level engineering activities related to the development of hybrid power systems for performance, durability and environmental requirements. Van Batavia began his career at MTS Systems as a Software Engineer where his focus was on the real-time control of complex custom test equipment.
Throughout his career, Van Batavia has focused on the latest technology for a variety of products and services, building a wealth of expertise on electric and hybrid vehicle architecture, alternative energy systems, electro-mechanical systems product development and connected vehicle systems innovation. He holds a patent for his Hybrid Hydraulic Drive System Architecture and has authored several articles related to energy management and control for hydraulic vehicles. In 2010, Van Batavia was recognized for his work in Embedded Controls by Control Engineering magazine with its 40 Under 40 award.
A resident of Delano, Minn., Van Batavia has a Master of Engineering degree from Purdue University and a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Minnesota – Duluth.
