Berlin – WEBWIRE

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation will present key products from its portfolio of urban mobility solutions at InnoTrans 2014, the largest trade fair for the railway industry, to be held in Berlin, Germany from September 23 to 26, 2014. Bombardier will also show a wide range of its latest rolling stock including locomotives to double-deck, high-speed trains.

For the first time, Bombardier will exhibit its BOMBARDIER INNOVIA Monorail 300 technology. The sleek two-car Monorail train is destined for the new King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, one of the most ambitious, visionary and progressive urban developments in the world today. Perfect for cities and airports, the lightweight, wide-bodied, aerodynamically styled INNOVIA Monorail 300 trains are combined with the service-proven BOMBARDIER

CITYFLO 650 automatic train control technology for driverless operation to offer customers a complete turnkey solution that is fast to build and cost-efficient to implement and operate.

Bombardier will also display an attractive new BOMBARDIER FLEXITY 2 tram for Flemish Transport operator De Lijn. With their inspirational design, 48 modern and spacious low-floor vehicles will substantially increase capacity and define the cityscapes of Ghent and Antwerp for decades to come. An innovation journey will provide exhibition visitors with the opportunity to experience new, revolutionary solutions for the tram sector designed to further enhance safety, increase passenger comfort and optimize vehicle architecture. Innovations to be showcased include a driver assistance system, an airbag protecting pedestrians, an airless sanding system, FLEXITY 2 platform features, dimmable glazing and antimicrobial surface treatment.

BOMBARDIER PRIMOVE solutions represent a major leap forward by making the shift to electric mobility easy and achievable for cities and operators. The flexible portfolio for electric rail and road vehicles is the world’s only one-stop shop for true e-mobility, minimising air, noise and visual pollution. It includes the inductive PRIMOVE fast charging system, the lightweight, long-life PRIMOVE battery system and the efficient PRIMOVE propulsion system; all of which will be on display at InnoTrans 2014. Bombardier will also present two PRIMOVE equipped e-bus vehicles from current projects in Germany. Bus operators benefit especially from the concept of high power charging at the most convenient points along bus routes, ensuring optimum fleet availability.

Lutz Bertling, President and Chief Operating Officer, Bombardier Transportation, said, “Delivering solutions for urban mobility is an exciting part of Bombardier’s future. At InnoTrans 2014 we will demonstrate our resilient and sustainable transport infrastructure solutions that can help city leaders to solve urbanization-related challenges.”
