Allstate Agency Owners and Employees Head to Capitol Hill to Advocate for Important Insurance Issues

Local business owners, insurance leaders lend grassroots support for customers and communities

NORTHBROOK, Ill. – WEBWIRE

Allstate agency owners and employees from across the country traveled to Washington, D.C. this week as part of an effort to help educate lawmakers about issues affecting the insurance industry, consumers and small businesses. Participants met with their elected officials to highlight Allstate’s public policy priorities.

“Small-business owners see first-hand how decisions in Washington affect their communities and the customers they serve,” said Bill Vainisi, senior vice president and deputy general counsel at Allstate. “Constituent advocacy is the cornerstone of our political process. Bringing a local perspective to issues facing insurers is critical to our ability to champion issues important to the customers we protect.”

Agency owners and employees discussed a variety of topics with lawmakers, including after-market auto repair reform, a modernized insurance regulatory system and the need to preserve the financial and retirement security of millions of Americans.

Specific issues included:

  • PARTS Act: Encouraging competition and consumer choice in the after-market auto parts industry that could save consumers $1.5 billion.
  • Insurance Regulatory Modernization: Supporting efforts to bring greater uniformity to the insurance regulatory system.
  • Tax Reform: Preserving Americans’ ability to achieve financial and retirement security through tax incentives that encourage saving and investing.
