With 85 percent of people who go on a diet fail, perhaps there is more to it?

“Misinformation such as; it’s in your genes, it’s just big bones or slow metabolism as the underlying causes for being overweight will keep you overweight,” said Ms Long

“Unlike processed, packaged foods, raw or natural foods do not have the added chemicals in them to make you want to eat and eat and eat.”

Ms Long said adapting your lifestyle is one of the keys to successful weight loss along with:
- Changing your belief in myths otherwise this will keep you feeling helpless and hopeless.
- Changing your belief in what is normal and embrace a new normal. Stop dreaming and wake up and do something about it.
- Bigger issues in life not being addressed – eg doing a job that has no future in it, relationship problems to name a few
- Clear vision – do you have a clear vision and goals you are working towards or are you treading water and going nowhere?
Ms Long said if you have a clear vision of what you want, nothing will stop you.
“Get clear on what you want and be willing to do whatever it takes.”
