Discreet Botox is back, and it’s set to overtake the most recent trend for completely wrinkle-free faces.

This is a returning trend that the UK’s leading provider of non-surgical solutions, The Harley Medical Group, has really seen take hold across its 21 clinics since the start of the year.

This is a returning trend that the UK’s leading provider of non-surgical solutions, The Harley Medical Group, has really seen take hold across its 21 clinics since the start of the year. The Group revealed that Botox patients are increasingly booking in for minimal treatments that give them a little lift, particularly around the eyes, but that don’t smooth all lines completely. The toned-down treatment, dubbed ‘baby Botox’, involves less Botox being administered, which allows some natural expression lines to remain and results in a more natural look.

With such a trend taking hold of the anti-ageing industry, it is set to become increasingly difficult to tell who has had the popular treatment and who hasn’t.

Nicky Naylor, a dedicated Botox doctor who has been treating patients at The Harley Medical Group since 2005, believes the drift towards a more subtle treatment harks back to the early days of Botox when patients preferred to keep their treatments under wraps.

“It’s interesting to see things come full circle. When Botox first became available many patients had treatments but never told friends and family, preferring instead to show off their new-found confidence,” said Ms Naylor.

“Since then, the very smooth, taut look has dominated, influenced by celebrities with no hint of a line or wrinkle. But we’re starting to find more and more patients asking for a natural look, particularly from those wanting to hold off face lift surgery or blepharoplasty [eye bag removal],” she added.

According to Ms Naylor, this more natural look is often achieved by treating crow’s feet, frown lines and some wrinkles across the forehead, while leaving the area underneath the eye untreated. But this differs from patient to patient, with Ms Naylor and the other Botox doctors holding thorough consultations before administering Botox. The most effective yet natural results can be achieved by administering Botox to the eyebrow area, giving the skin above the eye a lift. This opening up of the eye area can take years off the face and is very popular with both men and women.
