AEGON Renews Outsourcing Contract With EDS

Five Year IT Services Contract

17 Jul 2006 - PLANO, Texas – AEGON The Netherlands, an important country unit of one of the world’s largest life insurers, has signed an extension to its existing information technology (IT) services contract with EDS for an additional five years.

In 2000, AEGON The Netherlands outsourced the management of its IT facilities to EDS as a measure to focus on the company’s core business while remaining innovative in its use of IT. Building on the success of the earlier contract, this new agreement enables AEGON to remain competitive and flexible.

Under the new extension of the contract, EDS will provide a complete package of information and communications technology (ICT) services. These will range from hosting services of Unix-, mainframe- and web-environments to the provision of desktop, storage and local network services.

EDS also provides AEGON with services on security, mobility, helpdesk and software packaging.

“AEGON and EDS have cooperated intensively over the past six years in order to create an efficient and flexible IT infrastructure,” said Peter Varenkamp, Board member of AEGON The Netherlands. “Over the years, the AEGON business model has changed considerably to meet the changing compliance laws. The new contract reflects that EDS has adapted its services constantly to meet these changing circumstances.”

AEGON will embrace EDS’ Agile Enterprise Platform, standardized service offerings and products from EDS’ alliance partners to create a next generation global delivery system that enable clients to react quickly to changing market dynamics.
